Thanksgiving 2010

This year we were unable to rent any facility to have dinner at so we ate at my house. I was worried about space but everything turned out fab! And of course it would not be a get together without a CRAFT!
So proud of my turkey!
Jaden hates the camera.
All the kids with their turkey. Minus Jax
He slept the entire time.
Cute Slosh
The instructors.

More pix to come on this one.

Stair skiing

When I was little my mom had made me this great gymnastic mat. One side was this purple cloth the other side was super slick vinyl. It was great for gymnastics but even better for... sliding down the stairs. Watching Josh I have learned why my mom hated us doing it.

Howie was not impressed but sadie rode down a
few times with Josh.

One Project finished

One done 5 million to go!
I had wanted all my mirrors framed before we moved in. Time was not on our side and they never got done. So one of my many projects is to build frames for all the bathroom mirrors in the house. This is the half-bath, I wish I had a before but I don't, I will remember that for the others. I also made the wreath, it is white cupcake cups died in coffee and attached to a circular wreath.

Jaden's Veterans Day performance and other amazing things

Love, Love Love this Girl!!!

Another amazing show of the talents and diversity Jaden possesses. Jaden did the choreography for this dance and it turned out amazing!!

Unfortunately she tore her hamstring about two weeks before this performance and did not give herself any time to heal. I found out this week, that during this Veterans day performance she felt it tear again!
Her coach called me a little concerned because she was walking all her dances. I had her come up and have an x-ray and go to PT. Luckily there are no avulsions but she is at less then 20% strength on that leg, she SHOULD be out for 8 weeks.
I know she is heart broken. Her Christmas day performance is next week. (All proceeds of this program are going to 4 families here in Grace who have incurred substantial medical debt.) Originally she was to perform 3 dances with solo's in all and now she will only be doing one.
I keep reminding her that if she will just let it heal she will be ok when they start traveling. I just know that is not making her feel any better.

Another amazing thing about this girl: She came home the other day and wanted to know if i had gotten all of her Christmas presents. I, of course, think 'what do you want now'. So I asked her why. She said she wanted to take the left over money and donate it to the families here in grace that they are doing the fund raiser for! She would've given up her entire Christmas if she could have!!! Now that is a Proud Mom Moment! Like I said Love this Girl!!

Halloween 2010

Halloween 2010
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! One of the few holidays that I actually decorate for or get involved in. I always try to do something for the kids. It is getting harder and harder to find things that all the kids can do together and enjoy. This task can seem daunting with a 16 yr old, 12 yr old and 2 yr old. This time it was a success and everyone had fun!

Halloween Dinner

Cauldron Full of Devilish Dip
I tried to find a rye bread bowl so my cauldron would be black but sometimes in my neck of the woods I have to take what I can get. I used red, orange and yellow peppers for the flames and pretzel sticks for the logs. So cute!

Pumpkin Patch
Very easy. Oreo's dipped in orange chocolate and green fruit rollups for the stems.

Ghosts in the Graveyard- an old favorite!

Ghost Chips
For these I used corn totillas cut into ghost shapes. Then brushed with olive oil, cummin, salt, chilli, black and cheyenne peppers and baked for a few minutes.

Bat Bites
These are easy as well. Cream cheese, pesto, goat cheese, spices and rolled in poppy seeds and black pepper. The wings are left over corn tortillas cut into the shape of bat wings.

Mummies

Batt Wings- self explanatory!

Pumpkin Quesidilla
Orange tortilla's cut into pumpkin shapes with montery jack cheese. I stuck these under the broiler for a few minutes to melt the cheese.

Deviled Green Goblin Eggs
These are so fun and look awesome. I cracked the shells of the hard boiled eggs and then stuck them in hot water with vinegar and green food coloring for an hour. When done, I peeled the shells off and they leave a great green pattern all over the eggs.
Chad was so very impressed with dinner. Poor guy, sometimes I get so busy with kids, work and life in general, I don't have time to cook. Not to worry the next night I made him steak and lobster!

Halloween Carnival

After dinner we went to the Carnival (minus Josh, I guess he is to old for that kind of fun :)).
Jax ready to go, dressed as his favorite person, Handy Manny.

Jax was a little unsure of what to do.

Digging for buried treasure.

Bean Bag Toss- cheating... just a little.

My beautiful girl, love the smile on her face! She is always such a big help to me!

My turn, Jax would not do the pumpkin walk alone.

And after that much fun, the night will always end with a MONSTER JAX sized melt-down.

Almost done with this post! As I said before I LOVE HALLOWEEN.

Carving, painting and decorating pumpkins.

Josh is always my carver.

I thought Jax would like to play in the pumpkin guts. He took one look inside and said he wanted to paint his.

Jaden is always the painter.

The finished product.
My pumpkin has to have feathers, jewels and fabric, of course. Chad had to work and wasn't able to decorate his own pumpkin.

TWIRP 2010

Jaden is on student government this year and was 'lucky' enough to help plan Twirp. Being so close to Halloween they decided to do a costume party. Her group this year was Trevor, Ty, Austin, Hadlee, Alyssa, Brandi and her date (oops forgot his name). No pix of them they came for dinner and left to get ready.

Steffi and Andre
The tennis pro's that lost their rackets.

The 'Situation and Snooki'
It frightened me how well I did Hadlee's hair, guess it is time to move to the Shore.

Alyssa and Austin
The '80's called and want their jelly bracelets and scrunchi back.

Ty getting ready to show some Graceites how to fist pump.

Hope they had a fun night!

Pumpkin Patch

Thanks Dusty, Melissa and your amazing family for spending the time and energy getting a million pumpkins for all the community to come and get. And a special thanks for the 'private screening' so that Jax, J and Josh were gauranteed one!

Jax running to be the first one to pick out his pumpkin.
(I think he forgot he was the only one there.)

Decisions, decisions,

But he does have a moment to stop and smile for the camera.

Once the pumpkins were selected, it was off to the slide.

Even I was in on the action.
